A Plan for Victory Over Sin
But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1
Corinthians 15:57 NKJV)
Here is a simple program that will help you to permanently overcome sin in your
life,
while helping you move forward in your Christian walk and enter into all that
God has already planned for you.
1. Take a look at your lifestyle. Make a list of specific ways you are failing
God and others.
2. Now pray and ask the Lord to make you aware of other problem areas in your
life that you may not see as a problem.
3. Now repent of these sins. You first need to acknowledge that you are a sinner
and that you have some type of sin in your life.
God will help you overcome them one sin at a time on a daily basis.
He will empower you to do so (2 Corinthians 13:5, 1 Corinthians 10:13). Ask God
to remove each of these sins and He will.
4. Now ask God DAILY what He wants you to do for Him TODAY to serve and to
minister to others and to bring them closer to God.
(Matthew 6:33, Psalm 18:30) 6. Submit to God's will for your life. Ask God what
He wants you to do for Him.
As you do so, He will pour out His Holy Spirit into your heart and empower you
to overcome the temptation of any sin.
It is in this kind of commitment that God is glorified in our lives, and we
begin to truly understand His incredible, perfect love for us
and His purpose for creating our lives. (Romans 12:1, Galatians 5:16, John 15:5,
John 3:16, Ephesians 2:10).
5. Avoid associating with any Non Christians who want to involve you with things
that are not pleasing to God.
The Word of God (The Bible) clearly warns us of this when it says,
"Do not be deceived, bad company corrupts good habits" (1Corinthians 15:33,
Proverbs 2:10-15).
6. Develop friendships with other Christians that will build you up in the Lord.
Your whole
life may need to be restructured, but God's desire is that you be built up in
the knowledge of Him;
and this includes good fellowship with other believers (2 Timothy 2:22, Hebrews
10:24-25, Proverbs 15:22).
7. Grow in the Lord daily. This includes a meaningful commitment to a DAILY Self
Study of the Bible, DAILY prayer with God,
consistent WEEKLY Church attendance and joining a WEEKLY Bible study where you
can fellowship with other Christians.
This is how you become strong in the Lord. If you lack desire in these areas,
ask the Lord to change your heart
(Psalm 119:105, 1 Thessalonians 5:5, Hebrews 10:24-25).
Begin to apply these guidelines today. By the grace of God, you can eliminate
all of your sinful areas in your life one by one.
It will not be easy, but if you truly trust in Jesus, you will succeed.
